Multi-wythe wall assemblies
The fireresistance rating of multi-wythe masonry walls shall be based on the fireresistance of each wythe and the air space between each wythe in
accordance with the following equation:
R = (R10.59 + R20.59 + ... + Rn0.59 + A1 + A2 + ...An)1.7
where:
R1, R2, ... Rn = fireresistance rating of wythe 1,2, ...n, respectively (hours)
A1, A2, ...An = 0.30; factor for each air space, 1,2,...n, respectively having a width of atleast 1/2" between wythes
